Mangalore:The MLA of Mangalore South constituency, Shri.JR Lobo felicatated more than 50 retired teachers in the ceremony of teachers day celebration and celebration of 126th birthday of ex-president and renowned educationalist Dr. S Radhakrishnan held in the Town Hall of Mangalore on 5th of September, today.
The felicitation programme was organized by Dakshina Kannada Zila Panchayat Public Education Dept. in association with teachers day celebration committee and teachers welfare fund, Bangalore.
The programme was inaugurated by Member of Legislative Council Shri. Monappa Bhandary.
After the inauguration the dignitaries showered the flower petals on Dr.Radhakrishnan’s photo.
Shri.Monappa Bhandary in his inaugural address said that “The three people who play very crucial part in a child’s development is The Father, The Mother and The teacher. Out of the three the Teacher is of great importance because he moulds the child to the bright future.
In modern times we hear few bad things about the teachers. The only person who can understand the a child’s mind is the teacher. Hence the teachers should give more importance towards educating the child and thus uplift the honor of the teaching fraternity.
MLA JR Lobo in his presidential address said “Today if all of us are in this position it is just because of the teachers. The teachers those were felicitated are the role models to all of us. All the achievers in the world have been able to touch the peak of the success just because of their teachers.”
“Today there is a need to have the education system which upholds the human values rather than the one at present.”, he added.
Mangalore north division education officer Shri.Lokesh C welcomed the gathering while division in charge education officer Shri.Subraya Pai rendered the vote of thanks.
