Mangaluru: Till about a week ago, Ondu Motteya Kathe (OMK) was just another movie, awaiting release. Without any starry status attached to it, its makers must have been fighting apprehensions and anxiety about the film’s success. But, as they say destiny of any entity can change overnight, OMK is now pegged as one of the most awaited Kannada cinema after news of this film going to being premiered at New York Indian Film Festival broke.

Written and directed by Raj B Shetty, the film which talks about life of a 28-year-old prematurely bald young man has Shetty acting in the lead role as well.

When Shetty encountered problems in taking the comedy-drama ahead, Pawan Kumar of Lucia and U-turn fame thought it was a sensible story to narrate, especially in today’s world where one’s look is counted over all their other attributes, thanks to social media. Believing in the film, Pavan came in and gave the needed push. Then came Suhan Prasad as producer. A film was thus made with lot of passion.

What is making the humble markers of the film bask in glory already is that the film will premier at New York Indian Film Festival on May 6 and then a special screening will be held in mayor US cities for a week. The journey of ‘bald young’ protagonist does not end there. The film will then go to London Indian Film Festival.

It may be recalled here that Pawan’s film ‘U-Turn’ too had its premier at the NYIFF.

Ahead of its world premier, the audio launch of the film is scheduled for May 2.
