Oil companies offer grants to Jain edn institutions under CSR funds

Moodbidri : Union Petroleum Minister Dr M Veerappa Moily  has  provided various amenities to the  DJ Primary School of Moodbidri, Jain High School and Dhavala College  from the Corporate Social Responsibility Funds of oil companies

The Union Minister on December 23, Monday inaugurated the full-fledged computer lab of Jain High School and laid the foundation for the indoor stadium of  Dhavala College.  A total of 35 computers worth Rs 9.10 lakh has been provided to Jain High School while the indoor stadium at Dhavala college will come up at a cost of Rs 42 lakhs. A sum of Rs 14 lakhs has been provided to the projects by the Bharath Petroleum Corporation, while the UGC has sanctioned Rs 28 lakhs.

On this occasion, the Jain Primary School Management board sought grants from the Union Minister for the proposed new building  of the school to be constructed at a cost of Rs one crore. The Union Minister who responded positively to the plea  directed the officials of the Bharath Petroleum Corporation to offer Rs 25 lakhs and Hindustran Petroleum Rs 45 lakhs.

 K Abhayachandra Jain, State Minister for Youth Services and Fisheries, who was present as a chief guest appealed for grants for Mahaveera College to which the minister assured to consider the demand.

Addressing a function held at Dhavala College, Moily recollected his childhood and the role played by Jain educational institutions in shaping his personality and future.

 AL Krishnan,  General Manager of Karnataka Zone of Bharath Petroleum Corporation,Umesh Kulkarni of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation.  Prof, Ravish Kumar, Principal of Dhavala College, Pratap Kumar, Convenor of  DJVV Association. Abhijith  M, Secretary, Hemaraj, Prabhath Kumar, Trustees and others were present.
