Mangalore :  National Service Scheme (NSS) Day will be celebrated  at the Roshni Nilaya College of Social Work on September 24 under the aegis of the NSS unit of the College. The Dr PN Mayya Commemoration Day will also be held to coincide with the event, informed Dr P Lakshminarayana Bhat, Registrar (Evaluation) of the College.

Speaking to reporters here, he said the programme will be inaugurated by  State Minister for Youth Services and Fisheries Abhayachandra Jain.  Dr MB Dilshad,  Chairman of the Department of Studies on Women at the Bijapur Women’s University, will deliver the keynote address. Dr B Yashovarma, Secretary of SDM Educational Institutions, Dr Shantharam Shetty, Dean of Nitte University and Dr Sophia N Fernandes Principal of Roshni Nilaya will be the chief guests.

A programme to commemorate Dr PN Mayya who was the Head of the Department of Kannada of the College and NSS officer, will be held. An undivided DK and Kodagu district level inter collegiate street play contest will also be held. A blood donation camp with the co-operation of Red Cross and Innerwheel Club is also organised. The blood donation camp will be inaugurated by Health Minister Khader, he informed.

Dr Philomena Serrao, former principal, Dr Madhava M, NSS officer,  Aishwarya of JS Wing and Prakash were present.
