Mangalore : State Housing Minister and renowned Kannada actor Ambarish visited the city on October 17, Thursday for the first time after taking charge. The minister who participated in a review meeting later addressed press persons at the DC office and revealed the state government plans to introduce a new housing scheme under PPP model.
He said the scheme named Affordable Housing Policy is targeted at the economically weaker sections. If 40 per cent of the houses thus constructed will go to the poor at lower prices, 60 per cent of the constructed houses will be allotted to the builders. He said the scheme would come into force within two months.
The Housing Minister also said the government intends to eight lakh houses to poor at a cost of Rs 5000 crores in the next two year period.
Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni, MCC Commissioner Ajith Hegde, Legislators Vasanth Bangera, Moidin Bava and others were present.
Earlier Ambarish visited Kudupu and Shaktinagar areas along with officials.
