New Formula ready to solve BC Road traffic woes

Bantwal: Deputy Commissioner and District Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada have jointly come up with a new formula to solve the traffic  problem confronting BC Road in Bantwal. As per the new formula, the fly-over at BC Road will be opened for two-way traffic in the next 15 days.

Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim and SP Dr Sharanappa who visited BC Road on Friday May 23, took stock of the situation and the reactors that lead to traffic snarls in the area. They also deliberated on the issue with Bantwal DySP Rashmi Paraddy,in-charge Circle Inspector Manjayya, Tahsildar Malleswamy, TMC Chief Officer Ganesh, Rural station inspector Nagaraj and others. Even Sriram Mishra, Project Director of NHAI was present and assured to  initiate necessary measures to ensure free movement of two-way traffic on the flyover.

Drainage problem: On the occasion, TMC Chief Officer brought to the notice of the DC the  drainage  problems in the area. When the DC enquired about this with Sriram Mshra, he said all open drainages will be  repaired and drainage slabs would be fixed within the next 15 days and that drains will be constructed on either sides of service roads.

Speaking  to the media, the Deputy Commissioner said the District Administration as well as the Police Department would take necessary measures in BC Road to ensure the safety of motorists   and passengers. He said the railway over bridge under construction near BC Road Circle will be complete in the next six months. This will facilitate in solving the traffic problems of the area, he added.

Dr Sharanappa said two-way traffic will be permitted on the fly over on a trial basis.

What’s the new Formula ?

·   All vehicles heading towards BC Road Bus stand should  travel  on the road below the flyover

·   Vehicles  heading towards Mangalore, Bangalore, Puttur, Dharmasthala should not enter the bus stand but should proceed on the fly-over itself.

·   The divider near Kaikamba or BC Road should be removed and vehicles coming from Mangalore should be permitted to travel on the flyover

·    The NH Authority should issue a notification. Police personnel should be deputed below the flyover.

The administration plans to implement this formula within the next 15 days.
