Bangalore: DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has informed that the state government has decided to drop the proposed Ultra-Mega Thermal Power Plant at Niddodi  in the backdrop of the widespread opposition of the locals.

The Minister said so after laying the foundation for the  residential quarters of forest Department staff at Malleshwaram on Friday May 23.

When asked if the government has officially dropped the project, Rai only said so-“Any project can be implemented only after taking the locals into confidence. As Niddodi project faced much opposition it has been dropped.”
