Udupi :”Modi wave is the reason for my defeat” said the former Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayprakash Hedge in a press meet held on May 23..

Speaking to the media persons, after his defeat in the Lok Sabha Elections, Hegde said the new MP Shobha Karandlaje should realize that people have voted not because of her works but they wanted Modi  as PM. She should be thankful to him and concentrate more on development works instead of wasting time in criticizing other parties. Modi wave was obvious in coastal belt and Modi’s election campaign was strong at both national and state level, he said.

While answering a query Hegde said district in charge minister and MLA were very much supportive for the election. He also said that Congress failed to attract the new voters.

The other reason he claimed for his defeat is the issue of Aadhar card, areca ban issue and subsidies for LPG cylinders.

He thanked his supporters and party workers for their hard work during the campaigning and being with him throughout.

Hegde also said that he would continue to work for the people.
