Mangalore: Shantanu Sinha has taken charge as the new Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada district on September 30, Monday. His appointment follows the transfer of erstwhile SP Abhishek Goel as Lokayukta SP of Bangalore.

Shantanu Sinha who is an IPS officer of 2009 batch is an engineer. After a brief stint in the IT industry, he passed out the IPS exams and entered the police service. He has served the Department in various capacities  as Joint Lokayukta SP of Belgaum, Bagalkot and Bijapur, DCP(Law and Order) Mysore and as  Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police in Channapatna subdivision of  Ramanagaram district.

Speaking after taking charge, Sinha said  maintenance of law and order is on top of his agenda. Due importance will also be given to check  the crime rate, he informed.
