Mangaluru: Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti, in a bid to intensify its protest against the Yettinahole project, has decided to call for a district-wide bundh on May 19.

Samiti President Vijay Kumar Shetty said that the Samiti has been compelled to sharpen its protests as the government has not been responding to the pleas of the Samiti positively.
The Samiti, besides the bundh, will hold a procession on May 16 from Jyoti Circle to DC office premises and hand over memoranda to the Chief Minister and the Governor, through the DC, urging for withdrawal of the project.
“The Chief Minister, during his recent visit to Mangaluru, promised that he would convene a meeting with the organisations fighting against the Yettinahole project. He has not worked towards the same. The CM seems to have no idea about the technical aspects of this project,” he said adding that to drive home a point, the bundh called for on May 19 is a must.
Samiti member Harikrishna Bantwal said that, water has no religion and it knows no politics.
“If we kill the water, the water will kill us. Samiti will continue to stage protests till the CM feels the pinch,” he said adding that general public must come in support of the bundh and make it a success.
Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti office bearers Jayaram Saantha, Sathyajit Surathkal, Yashodhara Chowta and others were present.
