Bantwal:A team of  members of the Narikombu Gram Panchayat which visited the AMR Power Project site at Shambhur on October 30, Wednesday  found that the company was constructing a pump house without   seeking the permission of the Panchayat. The visit followed complaints from villagers that an additional pump house was being constructed by the company unauthorisedly.

The Panchayat had in fact served a notice to the company six days ago. One of the members, Anand Salian who is also a former president of the Narikombu Panchayat said though permission of the Panchayat was mandatory no step has been taken in this regard.

However, Premanath, the Plant Manager of AMR  argued that  only a bypass channel was being constructed to release rain water during monsoons. However, this argument was not accepted by the Panchayat members.

Meanwhile, in another development, the manager even prevented scribes from taking pictures of the ongoing works. However, a Panchayat official who intervened saw to it that the scribes  were allowed to take photographs of the unauthorized work.
