Namma Tulunadu Trust to hold jatha on Sept 7

Mangalore :  A Hakkothaya Jatha  has been planned in Mangalore on September 7 under the aegis of Namma Tulunadu Trust and other organizations  in support of the demand for  classical status to Tulu and to include Tulu in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.

Informing this to reporters at Press Club on July 29, Monday, GVS Ullal, Founder President of the Trust, said the ancient language of Tulu which is spoken by over one crore people  is still  fighting for due recognition despite innumerous  appeals made to the authorities over the past  several years.

He said the jatha will be held from Jyothi Circle upto the DC office. There will be a  public meeting outside the DC office compound later on.

A preparatory meeting to discuss the programme will be held at Sri Krishna Kalyana Mandir, Kadri Mallikatta on August 10, GVS Ullal informed.

Harikrishna Punaroor, Honorary President of the Trust, Vidyashree Rai, Treasurer and others were present at the press meet.
