NewsKarnataka – Moodbidri
Moodbidri:The local TMC which aims at working towards a Clean Moodbidri, however does not seem to be genuinely concerned to work towards the endeavour. The plight of Ontikatte Janatha Colony residents due to an unscientific and unclean open drain, seems to be making a pointer towards this fact.

The waste water that has stagnated in the open drain at Ontikatte Janatha colony presents a dismal picture. Already there are complaints that the six meter long open drain constructed in the colony is not only sub-standard but also unscientific. The drain constructed two years ago does not allow free flow of waste water. With water remaining stagnated the entire area is stinking and has turned out into a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Local residents say their repeated complaint to the TMC have gone in vain. With several houses too located in the vicinity there is even the danger of children falling ito the drain while playing. Another complaint is that the interlocks laid close by the drain are also of poor quality and has collapsed at one portion.
However, this is not the first time the area is facing problems owing to unscientific drains. Though a TMC meeting had some time back decided to black list the contractor, it is nothing but an irony that so far no action has followed.
Meanwhile, local councillor Nagaraj Poojary has said he has already brought the matter to the notice of the TMC Chief Officer who has assured suitable remedial measures.
