Moodbidri : Majority of  councillors of Moodbidri TMC  abstained from the Republic day celebrations on January 26, Sunday, thereby showing disrespect towards their motherland.

Of the 22 elected members of the TMC, only  one councillor Bahubali Prasad and two advocates were present. Despite the day being a Sunday and the programme organised early in the morning at 8 am,  none of the other councillors turned up. Even the TMC staff did not lag behind and only 6 out of the 35 staff were present.

The general public who are visibly upset over the lackadaisical approach of the councillors and the staff  to even attend a 15 minute programme, have demanded stern action against the abstaining staff.

Dhananjaya BD, First Division Revenue Inspector hoisted the national tri-colour while Councillor Roopa S Shetty,  First grade assistant Malini, Engineer Padmanabha, tax collector Prakash, Health Inspector Sajid, and teachers and students of the local higher primary school participated in the function.
