Month long EC campaign to enrol fresh voters from July 1 in DK

Mangaluru: The Election Commission will carry out a fresh month long campaign to include fresh voters in the electoral rolls as well as make changes in the existing rolls starting July 1, announced Additional Divisional Commissioner Kumar.

Presiding over a meeting of political parties at DC office auditorium today, ADC Kumar issued guidelines to members of political parties and officials for enrolling names in the electoral rolls. The campaign intended to include fresh voters in the age group of 18-21 and the data has to match the 2011 census data, stated ADC Kumar.

The cut off date will be 01-01-2017 and whoever has crossed the age limit of 18 as on that date will be eligible for inclusion, said ADC Kumar.

Voters can approach booth level officials, Anganawadi workers, teachers and village accountants and submit applications in the prescribed format. On July 9 and 23rd booth level officials will be present with prescribed forms at the respective polling booths during the day to enable fresh applicants to enrol their names in voter’s list as well as assist people seeking changes in the electoral roles.

Those seeking inclusion should submit details in Form-6 and for those migrated /died Form-7 to be used. For changes in the existing voter identity card Form No 8 is to be employed and in case of change in assembly constituency Form-8A to be employed, said ADC Kumar.

Applications can be submitted online by downloading the prescribed formats. If the existing photograph is not clear on the voter Identity card, then a fresh coloured photograph can be included in consultation with the area Tahsildar, revealed ADC Kumar.

As on 01.01.2017 the district has 807529 male voters and 829815 female voters totalling to 1637344. Finally ADC Kumar sought the cooperation of all political parties and their representatives to ensure campaign success by being present and actively participating in the inclusion and deletion of names of voters.
