Mangalore : After much delay, the Congress has announced its candidate from Mangalore North constituency. The party has decided to field Moidin Bava, its District Minorities Cell President against Krishna Palemar of the BJP. Incidentally, Bava had lost against Palemar in the 2008 elections.
The Congress second list of 40 candidates was announced on Sunday, April 14. Earlier, the name of Kripa Alva was doing the rounds from this constituency. Many even felt that Kripa would be the candidate as the Party President Sonia Gandhi also wanted to see more women candidates. But Moidin Bava and another aspirant Vijaykumar Shetty reportedly came in way of Kripa’s candidature. Recently both Bava and Shetty supporters had even flexed muscles at the Mangalore airport when both groups had been there to meet senior leader Oscar Fernandes.
