Mangaluru: Even as the Modi-led BJP government completed two years and celebrated ‘Vikas Parva’, Union Minister for Commerce Nirmala Sitharaman said that Vikas Parva was not mere celebration of the achievements of the ruling BJP at the centre, but it reflects what the BJP believes in-being accountable to people and also provides an opportunity to the MPs and MLAs of the party to go around the country and interact with the citizens.
Addressing the gathering during Vikas Parva celebrations held at Town Hall, on Wednesday, June 8, she said that the Modi government has never helped the rich putting interest of the poor at stake and that Modi represents and works for all Indians and not any one community.
The Minister said that Modi had promised the people of India a government that would be free from corruption and he has lived by his statement of ‘Na Khaunga, Na Khanedunga’ (neither will I eat nor will I allow to eat).
There has been no single scam during the Modi-led BJP rules, she claimed and substantiating the claim, she said that when ration cards were distributed, several undeserving families too had received the BPL cards, however, the government cracked the whip, seized all such undeserving ones and thus collected 36 cr cards, which were then given away to deserving families.
She further said that when the Congress minted money in the Coalgate Scam, the same coal blocks have been allocated and at present there is surplus of coal in the country.
Union Ministers of state for home affairs, Haribhai P Choudhary said that in a state like Gujarat, which has only five hours of power supply pre-Modi rule today has 24 hrs of electricity supply due to efforts of Modi.
Speaking about how the hands of the soldiers have been freed, Choudhary said that the soldiers, who used to seek permission from the centre for counter action, today give befitting reply for every single bullet fired from the enemies, across the border.
“There has been 32 per cent decrease in terrorism in Modi’s rule,” he said adding that it was time for Congress-free India.
