Mangalore : Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo gave details pertaining to the developmental works initiated in the last eight month period during the year 2013-14 in his constituency.


Speaking to media persons at the District Congress Office on February 5, Wednesday, he said a sum of around Rs 350 crore has been sanctioned for drinking water, underground drainage, road and solid waste management in the city and the same are in the process of implementation. He also informed that project reports and blue prints are ready for the reconstruction of the Central Market as well as the markets at Urvastores, Kadri and Kankanady.
He also stated that a sum of Rs 25 lakhs has been sanctioned for the development of Kadri Park and Falnir Mathias Park. As far as the under pass works at Padil Bajal, Mahakalipadpu and Jeppu Kudupady is concerned the MCC has to pay its share of Rs 10 crores to the Railway Department for the implementation of the project, the MLA informed.
He further said setting up of a total of seven health centres in Shaktinagar, Kadri, Padil, Ekkur, Jeppu and other places have been approved at a cost of Rs 3.06 crores with Central Government aid. The works on the same will begin soon, he said.
Projects have also been formulated for the development of the Fisheries port, fish market and stadium, Lobo further informed.
He said proposals have also been placed before the centre regarding laying underground electric cables, opening of night college at Karnataka Polytechnic and introduction of metro train from Konaje to Udupi Manipal.
Congress leaders Suresh Ballal, Mahabala Marla, Nazeer Bajal, Corporators Ravoof Bajal and Praveenchandra Alva were also present.
