Electricity Workers Union stages protest in city

Mangalore : Members of the Karnataka State Electricity Employees’ Union  and Electricity Employees   Federation  of India, under the aegis of the CITU  staged a protest in front of the MESCOM Head Office in the city on February 5, Wednesday in support of their several demands.

The protestors demanded  hike in minimum pay offered to contract workers of MESCOM. They even sought  additional travel allowance for meter readers and suitable job security to the employees.

They further  accused the MESCOM officials of unnecessarily harassing the staff. An appeal was also made to provide a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the family of MESCOM employee Deviprasad who died  of electrocution at Sullia recently.

BM Bhat, Honorary President of Karnataka State Electricity Employees’ Union, Mahesh, Secretary, Vasanth Acharya, Jerry Patrao, Prakash, Lokesh Hebbar and others participated in the protest.
