Madikeri, April 27: State Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar inspected the ongoing works of the 400 kV high-tension power line project from Mysore to Kerala via Kodagu taken up by the Power Grid Corporation of India, on Saturday April 26.


Dr Nanjappa, a local villager complained to the minister that valuable trees have been felled in some forest areas while several plantations too have been destroyed. He said though 46 meter wide land have been identified for the power line works, the trees in 103 and 104 meter wide land have been felled.
The minister who heard the grievances assured to do the needful to redress the same after consulting forest officials. Anucheth, SP, T John, C Hasanabba, MLCs, KG Bopaiah, Appachu Ranjan, MLAs and others were present.
