MCC bans all forms of illegal posters; issues notice

Mangaluru: The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has turned their attention on illegal posters across the city; the Corporation has issued a notice to the prominent theaters in the city as well as the students association – Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in a bid to keep the city ‘neat and tidy’.

As per the guidelines given by MCC, posters regarding films and advertisements on the road side walls, markets, bus stands, electric poles, public toilets, government buildings as well as private buildings are hindering the beauty of the city.

For illegal poster, as per KMC Act of 1976, permission from MCC Commissioner should be acquired before pasting any banners or poster in the city. Moreover, anyone who will be found guilty for pasting an illegal poster then the person will be dealt according to the provisions under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act-1981.

The MCC has received repeated complaints from the public as well as organisations working towards the betterment of the environment, due to which the action has been instigated.

The notice states that once the notice is issued, seven days of time frame will be granted to remove all the illegal posters from that particular place. If they failed to do so, action will be taken against the all including the organisations also, as per (Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act) KMC Act of 1976.
