Mangaluru: A case of physical assault and criminal intimidation on a woman has been registered at Pandeshwar police station on Thursday, November 13, against Stephen Mendes, director of a city-based cable network company, who also runs an education institution in the city.

According to the police, Geetha (name changed) filed a complaint stating that Stephen Mendes, along with his friends came to her house, when she was alone on November 9 and physically assaulted her.

Besides, “He also threatened to drag me with them,” the complaint states.

He has been booked under IPC section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation).

However, Stephen Mendes told newskarnataka.com that the complaint was as an act of taking revenge against him to malign his image.

“If the incident took place on November 9, why will she lodge a complaint on November 13? It is a false complaint, lodged against me,” he said.

“I registered a complaint against her husband, who is my partner in Satcom Cable Network, Attavar, for breaching the agreement and destroying the equipments. They have played a game to trap me,” he alleged.
