Massive protest demanding in-depth probe into Malini death case

Karkala : The Swabhimani Vedike organised a massive protest at Ajekar on February 28, Friday  demanding a thorough investigation into the case of suspicious death of a newlywed woman Malini Poojari recently.

Addressing the meeting, Mahesh Shetty Timarody, President of Prajaprabhutva Vedike,  said though  people are considered the kings in a democracy, the recent developments prove otherwise. Today anti-social elements are not punished while fights for justice in any case are being suppressed  due to political intervention, he observed.

Referring to the Malini death case,  Shetty said the protests should not be restricted to any caste or community but  should be held with the ultimate objective of ensuring punishment to the  guilty in the case. He also  pointed out that  the   PSI and Circle Inspector had questioned as to where was the evidence, when Malini’s parents had approached them to lodge a case of murder against her husband Ashok Jain.

Mutlupadi Satish Shetty, District President of Jaya Karnataka organisation  who also spoke said the protest should continue until justice is done and warned of severe protest if the authorities fail to evince interest in undertaking thorough probe.

Sunitha Sudhaker spoke on women and child rights. Harish Poojari Dugganabettu, brother of the deceased Malini, Ramesh Rao, Bhoja Poojari, Nandakumar Hegde, office bearers of Swabhimani Vedike and others were present.
