Mangalore : The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials held a passenger who was allegedly smuggling UK and Australian currencies worth Rs 13.39 lakh on Thursday February 27.
The passenger has been identified as Nizamuddin Abdul Khader, resident of Kalnadu in Palakkad district, Kerala. The DRI officers found 9,900 UK pounds and 5,800 Australian dollars which is estimated to be around Rs 13.39 lakh in Indian currency concealed in a trolley bag.
Nizamuddin arrived from Dubai by Air India Express flight IX 813 on Thursday night. Further investigations are on.
