Mangalore: Several  houses have submerged in the floods caused in the Malavoor village .The floods have also caused the Maravoor dam to submerge.A family of the person named Ravindra has been trapped badly in the flood waters. There five people in the family who are trapped, only ladies and childern .

Five other families have also been reported trapped as the water level is increasing and the rescue operattion are on . A JCB , fire brigade have arrived at the stie for the rescue operation.

The authorities of the dam are present at the site , Consultant Engineer SB Mayya who had desinged the dam says” Its a natural flood  which has occured due to heavy rains since few days , while some precautionary measures could have been taken .”

He further added that they had proposed to build a wall accross  with raised height , but due to the opposition by the locals this plan was stopped in the mid way.

The residents of that area are now breaking the compound walls to make way for the water to flow . Many other families have been evacuated from the their houses .

This is not the first time it is happening, last year as well same kind off disaster had been reported in that area, where the wall of  underconstruction dam had collapsed, due to which properties worth lakhs had been destroyed . At that time the locals had alleged that the unscientific dam construction was the cause for the distruction. 

As per the recent news home guards are planning to bring people with the help of ropes as there is no boat in Maravoor.In the Recent developments about 15 houses are in danger.DC said that the emergency team is alert and he received the news at 5am.People trapped are rescued and given shelter in the nearby temple.
