Editor of Urdu monthly Makhzan, stabbed to death

Bangalore: A shocking and sensational murder of Shamsul Huda (63), the well-known social activist and editor of Urdu literary monthly Makhzan, on Wednesday morning.

Mr. Huda was found stabbed to death at his office at the Eidgah Complex  on Tannery Road in Bangalore.

Mr Huda who was also running an interest-free credit cooperative society, is said to have left his Bamboo Bazaar house near Shivajinagar around 7.30 am. He was found murdered around 9 am when his computer operator reached office and opened the door with a separate key. The assailants had stabbed him in the neck and fled, leaving him in a pool of blood, reports said.

He was also the head of minority cell of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The killers motive is unclear, although some reports said that Mr. Huda was incurring losses in the financial service he ran.

He is survived by wife and sister. He had no children. He earlier edited Urdu weekly.

Police suspect it could be a murder for gain. However, the investigation is underway.

Various Muslim organisations have condoled .The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) also condoled the murder of Mr. Huda.
