Heavy floods at Bantwal

Bantwal : Due to heavy floods at bantwal and other regions, entire jakribettu is surrounded with water . Traffic is diverted on highway.  Rescue operations are in progress in bantwal region.People are being taken to safer places,by home guards.

The low-lying areas across the taluk are inundated owing to incessant rains that are lashing since a few days.  The water levels in lifeline Netravati River steadily rising.  The landslides, uprooting of trees on the houses, collapsing of compound walls are reported from several regions.

Ten houses were damaged in the limits of Kasaba, Panemngalore, near here.  The houses of Gowri, in the limits of Panemangalore, Vasanti and Usha, in the limits of Sajipapadu village,  Ammu and Jalaja, in the limits of B Mooda village, Eshwar Naika, in the limits of Punacha – Vittal, Devaki, in the limits of Panjikallu – Bantwal, Vinod Nayak, in the limits of Girigudde and Kaveri, in the limits of Thumbe were damaged in the incessant rains.

The huge trees dotting the roads near Girigudde – Jakribettu, here uprooted on the national highway, causing traffic snarls and sapped electricity supply.  A few houses in Kuppila were partially damaged in the rains coupled with high gales.  The residential quarter of Vittal sub-inspector Madhav Koodlu was damaged by the incessant rains on Tuesday July 2 night.
