Mangalore: The 41-year-old Mangalorean, Naresh Nandha Madhava, who had been on a company tour to Srinagar, which was hit by flash floods and was cut off from all communications, has reportedly reached Chennai, and is soon to reach home. (link earlier story here)
Surekha Naresh, wife of Madhava said that Naresh had left Mangalore 10 days back on Thursday September 4 to Srinagar as part of his company tour. He was accompanied by 72 colleagues from Chennai, and had informed her last, that he would reach Chennai, on Monday.
Fortunately, as per his notification Naresh was successful in reaching Chennai on Monday.
Naresh, employed as regional product head (south) of HBD Financial Service, was stuck at the Lalith Group of Hotels in Srinagar due to the heavy floods.
For a while, his family even lost contact with him, and his wife Surekha made a desperate appeal through the media to help trace her husband, after which she was once again able to speak to him over the phone.
Narrating his experience Naresh said that due to the floods, he was stranded for 10 days in the hotel, however as there was no electricity nor any means of communication he could not contact his family.
He said that the hotel authorities allowed their group to stay and provided food. However after few days they walked 6 km from the hotel to reach the Srinagar highway and from there the army escorted them till the Srinagar airport.
On September 14, Naresh finally reached Delhi, and the following day he reached Chennai, he will be soon reaching home to see his family, he said.
