Mammoth protest staged for Justice to Sowjanya

Mangalore :A mammoth protest was staged at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore on November 9, Saturday to urge the Government to carry the CBI investigations into the Sowjanya rape and murder case under the supervision of Supreme  Court.The protest was organised under the banner of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi units of Prajaprabhuthva Vedike.

Addrressing the protestors, Mahesh Shetty Timarodi,President of Prajaprabhuthva Vedike alleged that several illegal activities are carried out in Dharmasthala in the name of Dharma. “No one is allowed to question even when so many murders took place. If at all anyone raises voice against this,then their voice will be suppressed.”The influential and established powers will not even hesitate to kill them and even my case may be no exception,” he said.

He also said that Dharmasthala has transformed itself to Afghanistan. “Our struggle for justice does not have any vested interest but only aims to provide  justice to Sowjanya and other souls.” he clarified.

Kemaru Mutt head Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji,in his address said “To achieve something we need to sacrifice something. This gathering is not to showcase   public support but it is fight against injustice. I will be always ready to sacrifice my life for the struggle for justice. Dharma should be practiced instead of mere lip service,” he said.

On this occasion Devananda,father of Padmalatha who was killed in Dharmasthala years ago, Sowjanya’s mother Kusumavathi, Dr Harale whose wife Vedavalli too was killed mysteriously, recalled their horrifying experiences and also their sufferings. Sowjanya’s father Chandappa Gowda, writer Athrady Amritha Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
