Mangaluru: The main suspect in the murder case of Panduranga Vinayak Baliga has been released on bail on Monday, September 19, 2016. Naresh Shenoy is the suspect who was offered conditional bail on September 15.

When the Second Additional District and Sessions Court had rejected Shenoy’s bail application, his lawyers approached the High Court. The High Court granted him a bail three days ago after the bail application was heard.

Some procedures in his legal papers required him to remain in jail till Monday. And after the legal procedures were sorted, Shenoy was released and was picked up by a car to reach home. However, not many people were outside the jail to receive him after his release.

Shenoy was also supposed to undergo a narco-analysis test before he was released, which he outrightly refused. As the opponent lawyer sought court’s permission for the test and the Judge at IIIrd JMFC court asked for the opinion of the accused, Shenoy did not want to take the test.

Panduranga Baliga was attacked by a group of armed assailants while he was heading towards Venkataramana Temple on March 21, 2016. Lethal weapons were used and after the assault on Baliga, the murderers left the scene. The mortally injured Baliga was taken to a hospital but the doctors from the same hospital said that he was brought dead.

The police arrested three accused, Nishith Devadiga, Vinith Poojary, Shiva alias Shivaprasad and Manjunath. Naresh Shenoy was arrested three months after the incident.
