Mangaluru: The higher education minister of the state, Basavaraja Rayareddy inaugurated the new All college Students Union on Monday, September 19, 2016 in Town Hall. The new office bearers were welcomed to power by the audience gathered in the town hall.

Rayreddy’s cabinet members U T Khadar and Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai and Congress leader K Ashraf were present at the occasion. The celebrations of the new members of the All College Students Union came to a temporary halt for two minutes to observe silence and show respect to the soldiers of Bihar and Dogra contingents who laid their lives when the Pakistani Fidayeen attacked the army camp at Uri. 

Scholarships and financial aid were distributed to the physically and mentally challenged. Mithun Rai said that the new leaders of the Union will follow their elders in the same path since they have taken the oath not to falter in their path to glory.

The conclusion of the stage programme was followed by a small vehicular procession in the cars and motorbikes of the members. Newly elected leaders were taken around the city in open jeeps with drums and folk dance troupes.
