Maestro Titans beat Karkala Gladiators by nine wickets

Mangaluru: In their fourth match in Mangalore Premier League 2016, Maestro Titans won the game with spectacular fielding and bowling. They chased the score set by Karkala Gladiators and won the match by a whopping nine wickets.

As is Maestro Titans team skipper Akshay Ballal’s plan of action after winning a toss, he elected to let Karkala Gladiators bat the first innings so that they can chase the score. This game, played on Christmas day indeed saw an excellent team work with regard to fielding and bowling. Karkala Gladiators lost wickets one after the other and could manage to get a mere 92 runs out of 17.2 overs after losing all wickets at the end of the innings.

Team Maestro Titans chased the target score of 93 runs effortlessly in 8.4 overs with a loss of just one wicket. Whole of the second innings was played by Akshay Ballal and Rohan Kadam as Akshay got his fourth half century of the tournament by scoring 52 runs and Rohan gave an almost unreal display of grit in his batting and scored 36 runs. Akshay also won the ‘Man of the Match’ title yet again for the third time in this tournament.

Fast Bowlers of Maestro Titans, Abhilash Shetty and Asjath readlly did the trick of restricting run rate of Karkala Gladiators. Vice Captain of Maestro Titans, Sinan Abdul Khadar was the Rambo of the game as he himself took out four wickets in the match. Akshay Ballal and Rajat Hegde also picked wickets when the game was ending. Karthik Shetty of the team was also a favourite of the day for his maiden over.

Team coach Rithesh Mendon was very impressed with his team’s performance and congratulated all the players for being the key in winning the match. Team owner Canyut Fernandes congratulated the team effort in the game and said, “We are now at the table top position and we have one more game to go which will be decisive for the team. A lot of faults in the past three games were corrected in this one. I was promised a Christmas gift from Rithesh and Akshay before the game began and this is the best gift of the season.”
