Lorry driver trapped for selling mid-day meal rice to restaurant

Sullia: A lorry driver who is assigned to transport rice meant for Akshara Dasoha mid-day meals from the godown, was on Wednesday December 25 trapped while selling the rice.

The driver was caught in the illegal act, with the help of locals. It is learnt the unlawful sale of Akshara Dasoha rice was going on since past few days.

The rice was being sold while being transported from the main godown of the department of food and civil supplies in Mangalore to the go-downs of the department at Arambooru in Sullia.  The accused driver has been identified as 55-year-old Basavaraju from Hubli.
