Lokayukta traps Panambur VA

Mangalore:The Lokayukta sleuths have trapped the Panambur Village Assistant Umesh Kavadi while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 9000 from a  local resident.

It is learnt, the Village Assistant who had initially demanded Rs 10,000 from Purushottam, a resident of Meenakaliya,in order to provide the RTC of his house, had later agreed for Rs 9000.

Fed up with the demand for bribe, Kavadi had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta which trapped the Village Assistant while he was accepting the bribe at his office at Baikampady on November 8, Friday.

Luxurious life of VA : It has been learnt that the Village Assistant Umesh who hailed from Koodlige had joined work just three years ago. He was leading a life of luxury and was residing in a  rented house by paying around R s 8000 and even  owned a Swift car.

 Lokayukta DySP Vittaldas Pai,  Umesh, Vijayaprasad,  Inspectors Dilip and other personnel were part of the operation.
