Mangaluru: A landslip at Padil-Bajal under bridge construction site claimed the life of a worker on Monday December 1.

The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Mangal of West Bengal, was trapped under iron rods and mud after a landslip and eventually died.
It is learnt that late evening, the construction of the much delayed project Padil-Bajal underbridge was in full-swing, when a train passed overhead, weakening the partly constructed bridge.
All of a sudden the mud wall from above caved in and collapsed on the workers, trapping Mangal, while another labourer, Ramdev, managed to escape.
The Mangaluru rural police and the fire service personnel arrived at the spot; ultimately the body was retrieved.
