Kasargod: Kumble police have arrested the third accused in the case  of murder of Shafique (25), son of Mohammad, a former Kumble Gram Panchayat Member.

The arrested man is Asir (26), who resides in Bandyodu  Muttam but hails from Peral.  He was arrested in Karnataka.

Police have already arrested MA Abdul Salam (20)  of Peral Potteri and Mohammad Naushad (20) of Naikapu on March 29, Saturday. The third accused Asir is learnt to have admitted during interrogation that they had committed the act fed up with the harassment of Shafique. He has also divulged to the police that he had thrown two lethal weapons used to commit the crime, to the Mogral lake. Police are trying to  trace the lethal weapons by taking Asir to the spot.

The body of Shafique was found buried in sand near an under construction building at Peral on March 27. The three accused had killed him and then buried him in the sand. Abdul Salam was arrested at Kundapur while he was travelling to Mumbai in order to fly abroad from there.

Police suspect the involvement of many more persons in the crime. Investigations are underway.
