Mangalore : Karnataka State Police Flag Day and Welfare Day was observed in the city on Wednesday April 2 under the joint aegis of the Mangalore Police Commissionerate, DK District Police and KSRP 7th Battalion.
















Addressing the police personnel on the occasion, B Jaya Bhandari, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police said an individual who once joins the services of the Police Department must not involve in politics and if interested in the field must join politics only after retirement. The services of the police personnel will be recognised when they function without any bias and fear or favour. At the same time, he pointed out how the folly of a few in the department would bring disrepute to the whole department.
Bhandari said Dakshina Kannada, a land of intelligent people has efficient police officials. He also stressed the need for a highly alert intelligence wing in the Police Department.
Om this occasion, Bhandari suggested setting up of a help desk to discuss problems of police personnel and also urged to provide health care facilities to retired personnel.
Mangalore City Police Commissioner R Hithendra who also spoke, said the proceeds from the sale of Police Flags will be utilised for the police fund and urged the public to purchase the police flags.
Retired police personnel were felicitated on the occasion. Dr KV Jagadish, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr Sharanappa, SP, C Rangaswamy, KSRP Commandant and others were present.
