Subrahmanya: The Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple management committee approved the golden chariot proposal of Rs 77 crores during a meeting on Monday, April 29.
The funds for the proposed golden chariot will be collected via internal resources and donors. The proposal for the chariot was first taken up by the then Congress-JDS coalition government in 2005.
According to sources, the temple has funds amounting to Rs 308 crores in various accounts.
It can be recalled that the political circles are abuzz with the news that an astrologer advised Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to complete this golden chariot project at the earliest. HDK has asked officials to submit a fresh proposal before the state cabinet for the chariot after revising the cost estimate.
