Bantwal: Finally, the KSRTC has bowed to pressure and has rolled back the hike in fares  of buses  passing through the NH 75. Earlier, the KSRTC much to the ire of the passengers had hiked the fare by Rs 4 on the pretext of payment of toll at the newly set up toll plaza at Brahmarakootlu.

The fare hike was widely opposed with commuters even appealing for a roll back and warning of severe protest otherwise. The KSRTC authorities who have finally yielded to pressure have revised the fare with effect from January 5.

Even the Bantwal Taluk Panchayat meeting too had resolved to urge the KSRTC to reduce the fare and also to check rowdyism at the toll plaza. A delegation had even met the KSRTC Divisional Controller Mahesh and had pointed out that collecting Rs 4 over and above the actual fare was nothing but daylight robbery.
