Kota Poojary asks students to continue ancestors’ legacy

Mangaluru: “The vast vision of our ancestors has led the Dakshina Kannada district to secure a high position in both the education and health sectors. The younger generation should continue the legacy of our ancestors,” said Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Monday, February 10.

He was addressing the gathering after disbursing laptops to the students and felicitating the postgraduate students of Mangalore University, who secured ranks with gold medals. Poojary said, “Seniors like TMA Pai, Srinivas Mallya and other heavyweights have contributed much to the health and education sector which has enabled us to lead happy lives. The district has gained a lot of popularity due to their selfless contribution. Now, entrepreneurs like Dr P Dayananda Pai and Sathish Pai are also giving selfless service to society.”

President of the event, Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath asked the students to utilise the facilities which are given by the donors and the government. He also lauded Dayanand Pai and Sathish Pai for their contribution to government education institutions.

Postgraduation students Poojashri, who secured the first rank in Political Science, Pooja K, who secured the second rank in Sociology and Monika Shetty, who secured the fourth rank in Commerce, were felicitated on the occasion. Meanwhile, Dr P Dayanand Pai and Mohini Pai were also felicitated.

Former MLA N Yogish Bhat, college principal Prof Rajshekhar Hebbar C, chief adviser Dr P Shivaram and others were present.
