Kasargod :Normal life has been disrupted in Kasargod following a strike call by private bus operators in support of several of their demands including hike in fares. However, the movement of KSRTC buses on some routes reduced the inconvenience of commuters to some extent.
KSRTC buses are seen plying on the National Highway and some main roads while there is no bus services in most of the routes.KSRTC buses are also operating on the Kasargod-Mangalore, Kanhangad-Kasargod route. However, people in Bayaru, Uppala, Mermude-Bandyod, Mulleria, Kumble, Madhur and Mulleria routes had to rely on other private vehicles for want of bus services.
The private bus operators have already threatened that they will go on an indefinite strike from December 20 onwards if their demands are not fulfilled.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Ayardan Mohammad has said the government will take the strike seriously and initiate stringent action. He also said the government has no plans to agree for an increase in passenger fares. He said a decision will be taken once the Justice Ramachandran Nair Commission submits its report. He also made it clear that the government was not ready for any talks with bus operators.
