Mangalore :The secret behind the projection of Narendra Modi who was responsible for the communal riots in Gujarat, as the prime ministerial candidate should be looked beyond politics. The facade of such leaders are now falling apart now. The society should be aware of these facts, said Dr Rajendra Chenni, Director of School of Languages, Literature and Fine Arts in Kuvempu University, Shimoga.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Jana Nudi Conference organised by Abhimatha at Kalangann, Shaktinagar in Mangalore on December 14, Saturday with the co-operation of various like-minded organisations.

“Today what we see in the world is the media class and not the middle class. It is these media which decide on how man should live. As a classic example, the media contributed immensely in making people shed tears for a Wodeyar  who died recently though he did nothing for Mysore. Probably, the nation might not have shed so much tears  even when Mahatma Gandhi was killed,” he said sarcastically.

Prof. SG Siddaramaiah who presided over the function said ‘Words and life are the conscience of the society and sometimes one has to realise that there is truth even behind harsh words.   Jana Nudi cannot remain  silent when the nations resources are looted, he said,

He called upon writers to raise voice against the happenings in the society instead of going after awards.

Farmer leader Kadidal Shamanna urged the government to find ways to protect the crops grown by teh farmers instead of  firing at farmers who seek fertilizers and support price.

Writer Dr HS Anupama who also spoke on the occasion made it clear that Jana Nudi was not a parallel to Alva’s Nudisiri was  an alternate to the practices followed at Nudisiri.
