Mangalore : In yet another case of gold smuggling detected at the Mangalore International airport, customs officials on September 25, Wednesday arrested a man who was found smuggling nearly 1,499.45 grams of gold valued at Rs 45.55 lakhs inside a fan.
The man identified as Abdul Rahiman Malangala (29) from Hidayatnagar in Kasargod had arrived by a Jet Airways flight from Dubai at 8.30 am. Customs officials during a routine checking, suspected the man who was behaving suspiciously and checked his baggage when six gold bars of 24 carat purity were found inside a fan.
Abdul Rahiman has been produced before the court which has remanded him to judicial custody.
