Kasargod : Kasargod police have arrested a  man from Chengala who was an expert in stealing valuables from patients and doctors in different hospitals. He was arrested  from the Kasargod Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

The accused is identified as Basheer(50). The police have seized a laptop, seven mobile phones and some jewels  from him. It is learnt, the jewels belonged to a patient,while the laptop was that of  a doctor. CCTV footages of the hospital helped in the arrest of the  thief.

During interrogations, he revealed that he used to keep an eye on patients in hospitals and used to steal valuables at the right time. He, it is learnt, had stolen valuables from several hospitals and the arrest followed complaints of thefts in several hospitals.

Basheer who initially worked as a security man at a hospital in Vidyanagar was later a truck driver and was jobless since some time forcing him to resort to thefts in hospitals.
