Bantwal :
The three police constables who were transferred to Joida following the group clash during a Congress Samarasya Convention in Kalladka, have been reinstated by the Police Department in their original postings. By doing so, the Police Department has mended its ways.

Constables Pradeep and Ramesh  are now back to duty in Bantwal Town Police Station, while another constable Kumar  has reported to duty at Puttur police station on Thursday May 29.

The background:  Constables Pradeep and Kumar who were  not at the spot while the group clash took place at Kalladka on March 8 and  Ramesh who was injured in stoning and was hospitalised were  transferred to Joida police station in Uttara Kannada district.

This all of a sudden transfer of the constables had kicked off a debate. In fact the police too had come under fire and an allegation was even heard that the lackadaisical approach of the Bantwal Circle Inspector Rajashekhar Mistri  had aggravated the situation. SI Sanjeeva Kumar and staff Ramesh and Murugeh were injured in the clashes. In developments later on, as per the recommendations of the circle inspector, the three cops were transferred.

However, objections were heard to the transfer of Ramesh who was injured in the clashes and Pradeep who was in Udupi on a training at that time.

Bantwal Circle Inspector  Mistri was himself suspended by the SP later on for dereliction of duty. Now, the Department has reinstated the three constables realising that they had not erred.
