Kadri Park to accommodate separate play area for special children

Mangalore: Differently – abled children can happily head to the city’s largest park, which is at Kadri for leisure from December onwards. Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo has sanctioned Rs 15 lakhs from his ‘MLA fund’ to accommodate a special section for the differently-abled children in the park.

It will be the second park, after Mannagudda Gandhi Park, which has a separate section for special children, which was developed with a cost of Rs 5 lakh.

JR Lobo, who paid a visit to the park on Tuesday October 14, told reporters that Kala Deepak, a mother of a differently-abled child had approached him with a plan, in a heed to allocate a separate play area for special children, alike her child.

MLA JR Lobo granting consent on the plan said that the play area will be designed in a way that will accommodate to the facilities so that the the differently-abled children have a good time.

Venkatesh Pai – Architect who will be working on the project said the playing area will accommodate different types of equipments which are meant for the differently-abled children.

Mayor Mahabala Marla also extended support from the city corporation to upgrade Kadri Park.
