Puttur: A Mescom employee on-duty was electrocuted on Thursday at Sorake in Puttur. On knowing about the death, his family members gathered and held Mescom responsible for the death.

Shrishaila Machagandi (27) from Bagalkot is the deceased. He was working as junior lineman in Savanoor Mescome Sub-division over the last one year.

On Thursday, he had climbed up a ladder to fix up loose wires when he came in contact with the high tension wire. In the incident Shrishaila’s head was charred and he died on the spot.

Shrishaila is survived by his wife and two kids- one aged about two years and the other merely nine months old.

The family members of the deceased have held the Mescom responsible for Srishaila’s death and have said that even when there is a rule that probationary linemen should not be made to climb the electric poles, Srishaila was made to work violating the rules by the Mescom. They have demanded immediate action against those who ordered Srishaila to perform the work which was against the rule.
