Bengaluru: A Division Bench of Karnataka High Court comprising Justice B S Patil and Justice B V Nagarathna adjourned the contempt case against Vijay Mallya to March 10.
The Bengaluru police on Thursday told the High Court that they may require months to serve bailable warrant on businessman Vijay Mallya in connection with a contempt of court case ini8tiated against him for allegedly breaching an undertaking given to the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in 2013, during the proceedings on banks’ plea for recovering dues from Kingfisher Airlines Ltd. A submission was made by the government counsel while pointing out that they could not serve warrant as Mallya is staying overseas.
A counsel representing the banks told the court that there is a procedure for issuance of warrant to secure accused persons from foreign countries through the Ministry of Home Affairs and sought court’s permission to submit the procedure in the form of an affidavit.
