Udupi: The Udupi Lokayukta on Tuesday February 4 arrested the Joint Director of the District Industrial Centre while accepting a bribe of Rs 10000 from an applicant who had submitted margin money claim form.
After receiving the complaint from Srikanth Karkala, a handicraft businessman the Lokayukta team raided the District Industries Centre office and caught the officer P Nagesh red handed.
The complainant had applied for the form as he will be eligible for the subsidy benefits from the bank up to 35 % under PM Employment Guarantee scheme. The complainant had started metal handicraft unit by borrowing the loan of Rs 25 lakh in the bank.
As his unit was in rural area, he was entitled for 35 percent subsidy under the scheme. However he was supposed to get margin money claim form attested by the joint director of the Industrial Centre. The accused was produced before the court in the evening.
Lokayukta team included DySP Umesh Shet, Inspector Mohan Kotari, Nagesh Udupa, Riyas Ahammed and Sathyavathi.
