Mangalore: A ‘Jail Adalat’ interactive session displayed vivid emotions of the inmates as well as brought to limelight several cases wherein the police had allegedly arrested innocents. The session was held on Tuesday March 18.






The first additional senior civil court judge B N Sunil Kumar Singh inaugurated the programme and told the inmates to make the maximum use of the facilities and programmes offered.
P S Ramesh, Jail Superintendent said that the Jail is not a centre for punishment, but a centre of transformation. “When you are released from jail, you must promise yourself that you will not commit any crime anymore and that you will also join the mainstream of society,” he told the prisoners.
“I am a tipper driver. As I couldn’t get any job in my town I had arrived in Mangalore for the first time on March 17 (Monday). But the police caught me and pushed me behind bars though I have not done any mistake. Please let me go sir”, a prisoner from Bagalkote pleaded.
Another inmate said that he has been in jail for the past four months for scolding his wife. “My wife has now realised her folly and meets me often. She has also promised to withdraw the complaint,” he said.
